About Yixing Tea Pot:

The name of Yixing tea pot adopts the name of its born place Yixing which is a town located in the east of China – Jiangsu Province. This type of tea pot is made of a special purple clay only exist in this region, the high quality of its craftwork has won high reputation all over the country since 15th century.

Yixing teapots are meant for use with black and oolong teas, as well as aged dark tea, like Pu Erh. You can also use it to brew your favorite green or white tea, but the water must be allowed to cool to around 85 °C (185 °F) before pouring the water into the pot.

The capacity of most popular Yixing pot sizes ranges from a few hundred milliliters to 70 or 60 ml. The small the pot is the better it can reflect the true taste of a fine tea.

Yixing teapots absorb a tiny amount of tea into the pot during brewing. After prolonged use, the pot will develop a coating that retains the flavour and colour of the tea. It is for this reason that soap should not be used to clean Yixing teapots. Instead, it should be rinsed with fresh water and allowed to air-dry. Due to this reason, it is highly recommend to only steep one type of tea in a particular pot, to avoid the specific flavour get mixed up.
